Who are We Are Hunting?

We Are Hunting (WAH) is an information producer, whose main purpose is to show the new political leadership of this country the consequences (intended and unintended) of a tightening of the ban on hunting. The material WAH produces is also intended to be distributed to the public.

WAH aims to explain the true nature of the hunting population: real people with real jobs and real concerns, to paraphrase PM Starmer: “ordinary working people”.

WAH is giving a voice to the hundreds of thousands of people who hunt or who work in an industry supported by hunting, but are totally ignored in the current political narrative on hunting.

WAH spells out clearly what it would mean to them if further legislation were passed to tighten current hunting laws.

WAH dispels some myths and establishes some hard facts about hunting, as we often find those politicians to be so often misinformed about hunting.

The team at We Are Hunting are Christophe de Taurines (member of the Warwickshire Hunt Supporters Club),  Charlie Pye-Smith (author of “Rural Wrongs”), Neil Kennedy (co-founder of the Countryside Alliance), Nico Morgan (Photographer and Videographer), with Jim Barrington of the Countryside Alliance (CA) providing support.

WAH is interviewing 25-30 people across the country, who hunt on foot or on horse, who follow a hunt, and who serve the hunting community. These interviews will be the basis of the information campaign both in a short film (6-8 minutes) and in written form.  Nico is responsible for making the film, aided by Neil. Charlie is responsible for the written material.

WAH is NOT a splinter group. We have received the endorsement of the Countryside Alliance and the British Hound Sports Association, as we see it as vital to be coordinated with the CA and the BHSA when approaching the political world. The evidence WAH is producing fits perfectly with the overall strategy on the defence of hunting adopted by both organisations. The CA and the BHSA intend to use the WAH material and to send it to the Government and Members of Parliament, as well as journalists, Police chiefs, social media channels, and the public.

Whilst the Labour Party’s election manifesto included banning trail hunting, this was not included in the King’s Speech of July 2024. However, the ever-present threat of a change to the Government’s legislative agenda, or a surprise Private Members Bill, makes it absolutely essential that the hunting community is fore-armed with this information campaign.

We are very happy to come and meet you to discuss with you how you can contribute to this effort.
